Washington Initiative for Boys and Men (WIBM) wants all Washingtonians to thrive, including boys and men of all ages and from all backgrounds.

Our Vision: Thriving boys and men showing up for their communities.

We regularly carry out real-world advocacy by meeting with elected officials at the state and local levels, testifying on legislation, and organizing grassroots advocacy campaigns. We meet with a broad range of stakeholders, influencers, and organizations. As an advocacy operation Washington Initiative for Boys and Men is online, but we’re not primarily online. We show up places. We talk with people face to face. We engage in the public arena.

A note to paid subscribers and potential paid subscribers: All financial contributions go directly to supporting the advocacy work. Thank you! (WIBM does not have 501(c)3 status. Contributions are not tax deductible.)

What has WIBM accomplished to date?

  • Built an advocacy network/coalition of over 400 people across the state, with a diverse mix of men and women from across the political spectrum.

  • Attracted 24 legislators — 14 Democrats and 10 Republicans — to sponsor the Washington State Commission on Boys and Men legislation in 2025, the fourth year the bill has been filed. Each year more legislators are seeing the need for it.

  • Gained abundant media coverage from corporate and independent media for the Commission on Boys and Men legislation.

  • Gained endorsements for a Commission on Boys and Men from over 45 nonprofit organizations and labor unions.

  • Met individually with over 75 members of the 147-member state legislature, including an equal mix of Democrats and Republicans, to raise boys and men’s issues to their attention.

  • Published over 200 articles to our blog and nearly 100 videos to our YouTube channel, carrying out loads of original reporting.

WIBM has two websites

  1. WIBM.us — Where our advocacy journalism was published until switching to Substack in March 2025.

  2. WABoysandMen.org — The website promoting the creation of a Washington State Commission on Boys and Men. It includes links to media coverage, organizational endorsements, an image of all the Democrats and Republicans who’ve sponsored the bill so far, and links to the text of the legislation.
